MCS provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) at Mountain Home AFB, inclusive of PBX administration, Grand Forks AFB, McConnell AFB, and Ellsworth AFB with certified switch technicians on host switches and Remote Switching Terminal (RST) voice and data lines on PBX, RST, and Key Systems switching equipment. The central office also includes equipment for carrier/multiplex, Local Area Networks, all associated ancillary systems, key systems, and customer premise equipment. This system is an integral part of the Air Force's Northwest Regional Base Telecommunications System, which interfaces with outside common carriers, FTS 2001 network, DSN, and other point-to-point circuits. MCS provides all personnel, equipment, parts, material, tools, and any other items and services necessary to perform O&M of the BTS 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MCS performs O&M on the Avaya S8700 switching system(s), transmission equipment, ancillary equipment, customer premise equipment, and the inside and outside cable plant. Several MCS technicians are currently certified to design, implement, program, and maintain this family of Media Servers, as well as perform network O&M for the Lucent Definity 5E and Nortel SL-100.
